The Senior Adult Unit at Addison Gilbert Hospital is a 14-bed psychiatry unit serving residents of the North Shore community who are 65 years and older and coping with a broad range of psychiatric issues.
The Senior Adult Unit staff is specifically trained in treating conditions unique to older adults, such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and are committed to providing compassionate care while working collaboratively with patients and their families.
Beth Israel Lahey Health Behavioral Services is the only organization north of Boston to hold Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) designation, which signifies our commitment to patient-centered nursing care for older adults.

BayRidge Hospital is a 62-bed hospital in Lynn, MA that provides treatment for individuals (18 and older) with psychotic disorders and other conditions affecting their mental health. The highly trained staff and the community at BayRidge Hospital are committed to providing a safe, caring environment for people experiencing a life crisis. This commitment includes a patient-centered approach to care that addresses underlying causes that may contribute to a mental illness.
Treatment programs and services are designed to help patients achieve stabilization and rehabilitation that helps them function better and more safely once they return home. This includes working with community resources, so patients can access the appropriate aftercare and maintain their recovery, reducing the risk of relapse or repeat hospitalizations.

The Leland Inpatient Adult Psychiatric Unit at Beverly Hospital provides specialized care to adults 18 and older with psychiatric needs, as well as patients experiencing non-acute medical complications at the same time as their psychiatric symptoms.
Care components include diagnostic evaluation, medication evaluation and management, individual and group therapy, and aftercare planning. When appropriate, patients can receive Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), a treatment that involves brief electrical stimulation of the brain while the patient is under anesthesia. ECT is used most commonly when severe major depression or bipolar disorder has not responded to other treatments.

For adults in need of an alternative to inpatient care for concerns such as mood disorders, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or substance use, the Partial Hospitalization programs at BayRidge and Beverly Hospitals offer intensive, short-term, day programs. that provide group therapy treatment.
Programs operate Monday through Friday and focus on wellness and recovery, including communication skills, coping with change, and developing healthy relationships. Individual counseling is an important part of the treatment and medication consultation is available. Assistance with transportation for residents of surrounding communities is also available.
Partial hospitalization may also help those who need a transition step following an inpatient psychiatric hospital stay or to prevent a relapse of mental-health-related symptoms that would require hospitalization.
